There have been a lot of exciting things going on behind-the-scenes in my life lately, but this honor means a lot to me: the privilege of carrying-on my dad’s legacy at my law firm. Recently, my firm was listed as one of the Best Family-Led Law Firms by Michigan Lawyers Weekly for the second year in a row. My dad isn’t in this photo as he is retired and as many of you know he has Alzheimer’s, but he was a force to be reckoned with as an attorney and I’m proud to be his daughter.

Summer Travel? Make Sure To Have These Legal Documents Before You Go!
If you are planning on traveling this summer, there are some legal documents that you should have in place before you go. And durable power of attorneys are two estate planning documents that everyone over the age of 18 should have...even if you`re married.
I had the chance to dive into this with @bhudtv @fox2livenunscripted at @fox2detroit. We chatted about the difference between medical and financial power of attorneys, the biggest estate planning mistakes people make, why turning 18 is an important time to get these in place, and why it`s better to get your estate planning done before you leave on your next trip or have an emergency.

A big thank you to @alzmichigan for the honor of being the Emcee at the Women Conquer ALZ event! 💜 It was amazing to be in a room full of caring, inspiring women. I feel grateful that I was able to share a bit of my story, and I’m very thankful to have a strong community of women to support my family as well as the resources and programs that the Alzheimer’s Association offers. #ENDALZ
Women & Alzheimer`s Disease:
Today I had the chance to talk about a subject that is near and dear to my heart: Alzheimer`s disease. As some of you may know, may family has been on this journey for over a decade since my dad`s diagnosis.
Many women don`t realize that we are more likely to be diagnosed with Alzheimer`s disease than men and more likely to be a caregiver for someone with the disease. Awareness about Alzheimer`s and community support is critical, and I`m honored to serve as the Emcee for the Alzheimer’s Association 3rd Annual Women Conquer Alz Event next week. (Information is attached in my photos and at the link in my bio).
More information to help women, caregivers, and others who have loved ones with Alzheimer`s is in this week`s @cbsdetroit segment with @rachellegrahamtv at the link in my bio and here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE9JTf5QYP8

Tommy Hearns: Guardianships & Conservatorships
Boxing legend Tommy Hearns is now under guardianship and conservatorship.
That means a probate court has decided that he can no longer make his own medical and financial decisions, and his son Ronald Hearns now has that power.
But what does that actually mean… and how does something like this happen?
These cases are more common than people think, and they often lead to family fights and drama behind the scenes.
Understanding guardianships and conservatorships isn`t just for celebrities because these probate proceedings impact families across the country.
I had the chance to discuss Tommy Hearns as well as guardianships and conservatorships this week at CBS News. A clip of the segment can be found in my bio or here: https://daniellemayoras.com/tommy-hearns-guardianship-conservatorship-meaning/
